Ann Blaker has been named the new executive director of Bienestar, the Hillsboro, Oregon-based nonprofit that owns and operates affordable housing properties serving farmworkers and the working poor. She replaces Karen Shawcross, who is retiring after seven years of service.
Blaker has served as a grants consultant for Bienestar for eight years and has served on its board of directors for the past three. She has extensive experience in nonprofit management and leadership, including stints with the American Cancer Society, the Community Housing Resource Center, the Housing Resource Center, and the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Bienestar presently serves more than 500 families and has assets of $40 million. The nonprofit’s holdings more than doubled during Shawcross’s tenure.
