Ask anyone who’s been to Autzen Stadium — the University of Oregon Ducks are tough to beat when they’re playing on their own turf. They won’t be doing that on Monday night at University of Phoenix stadium in Glendale, Ariz., when they play the University of Auburn for the college football national championship. However, they may be doing the next best thing. It turns out that the grass in the stadium was Oregon-grown by Golden Valley Farms in Silverton, Ore. Might this be an advantage for the Ducks? Maybe not, because the owners of Golden Valley are die-hard Oregon State Beavers season-ticket holders. Nonetheless, the farm’s owners told Capital Press reporter Mitch Lies they’ll be Duck supporters on Monday night, even if they aren’t wearing all sorts of Duck paraphernalia. (Hat tip to Mitch Lies and Capital Press.)
