Early registrations due May 15 for the 2010 Oregon Urban and Community Forestry Conference

By Curt Kipp — Posted May 12, 2010

Early registrations are now being accepted for the 2010 Oregon Urban and Community Forestry Conference, titled ”From Seed to City: The Journey of an Urban Tree”. The two-day conference will take place June 2 at J. Frank Schmidt & Sons Inc. nursery in Boring, Ore., and June 3 at The Oregon Garden Resort, Silverton, Ore. Organizers say it will be a very valuable experience:

“We feature more than a dozen expert speakers including Dr. Ed Gilman, special access tours, demonstrations and of lots of opportunities for one-on-one discussion and networking. From Seed to City is a high-value, two-day event sure to appeal to the continuing education and training needs of a wide range of urban and community forestry professionals, parks and planning staffs, arborists, landscapers, developers, non-profits, and citizen activists.”

The cost is $99 for both days if paid by May 15, or $129 after that date. One may also register for a single day for $60 (early rate) or $75 (after May 15). Student rates are also available. Full details can be obtained on the event flier (PDF).

The conference is organized by Oregon Community Trees and the Oregon Department of Forestry’s Urban and Community Forestry Program, in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service – Urban and Community Forestry Program, the Oregon Association of Nurseries, the World Forestry Center, the Oregon Chapter of the American Planning Association, and the Pacific Northwest Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. For more information, call the PNW-ISA office at 503-874-8263.
