Farwest Show presents second annual Equipment Innovation Day

By Peter Szymczak — Posted May 13, 2015

“Equipment Innovation Day is back by popular demand,” announced Allan Niemi, director of events at the Oregon Association of Nurseries, producers of the Farwest Show. “Our first event was a big hit. This year promises to be even better with our participating hosts and the ensemble of equipment and manufacturers we have on tap.”

The second annual Equipment Innovation Day will take place on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. The event builds excitement for attendees and exhibitors leading up to the Farwest Show, which kicks off on Thursday, August 27 and runs through Saturday, August 29.

Equipment Innovation Day offers a real-time opportunity to see new heavy and automated nursery equipment in action. Attendees will be able to talk with equipment manufacturers and learn first-hand from innovative growers who use the equipment in daily operations.

The daylong event will be held at the main manufacturing plant of GK Machines, Inc., Donald, Oregon. Further demonstrations of field equipment will take place at the nearby nursery of A & R Spada Farms LLC.

Bus travel to and from the event is planned, starting and returning at the Oregon Convention Center, site of the Farwest Show. Attendees are welcome to provide their own travel to and from the site. Preregistration is required. Cost to attend is $89 ($119 after July 31) and includes bus travel, lunch, and Show Expo pass. Cost for self-travelers is $35 ($45 after July 31) and includes lunch and Show Expo pass. Complete times/agenda and registration are available at www.farwestshow.com/equipmentday.shtml.

Equipment Innovation Day is just one facet of the comprehensive showcase Farwest has in store for the horticulture industry this year. The array of speakers, events, and green and hard goods on tap will provide nursery, greenhouse, and garden retailers key information touching on every aspect of operations. Speakers and activities will include trends and research, breeding, plant introductions, heavy equipment, new products, and tours of area nurseries. The Farwest Show is the biggest green industry show in the West. For more information, visit the Farwest website.
