This is part of our continuing coverage of the Farwest Show. This post concerns Day Two of the Farwest Show Tours, specifically, Tour 3, the New Plants Tour on Wednesday, August 22, 2012. Keep checking back for updates, or follow @FarwestShow on Twitter.
Our fourth stop on the New Plants Tour was Fessler Nursery Company, just down the road a stretch from Woodburn Nursery & Azaleas, which is owned by a different branch of the family. According to owner Marvin Fessler, his father started the nursery 52 years ago. Unlike many Oregon nurseries, everything grown at Fessler Nursery Company is grown indoors. They grow 4-inch bedding plants, poinsettias, florist azaleas, house plants and hanging baskets. In addition, Fessler Nursery is a rooting station for Selecta, turning cuttings into liners that are sold to greenhouses. Several of Selecta’s selections were on display in the Fessler trialing yard, including some that were flagged as “new.”
