How can small nurseries work cooperatively to become more effective and more profitable? The OAN Small Nurseries Group will meet to discuss this issue at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19 at the Oregon Association of Nurseries, 29751 S.W. Town Center Loop West, Wilsonville, Ore. OAN President-elect Kevin Klupenger, who is a nursery business consultant, will lead a dialogue on the realistic options small growers may have for cooperatively marketing, shipping, packaging and branding their products. In addition, nursery shipping specialists Donna and/or Geoff Byler of Blue Planet Logistics will be on hand to share ideas and talk about less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping. This should be a fascinating meeting for any small-nursery owner who is motivated to explore and create new means to greater profitability.
