“Toward One Oregon: Rural-Urban Interdependence,” a conference aimed at strengthening ties between all parts of Oregon, will be held Nov. 14 at the Salem Conference Center (directions). The event is being sponsored by Oregon State University, Portland State University, the University of Oregon and Eastern Oregon University.
“Oregon is an incredibly diverse collection of landscapes, economies and communities,” said lead organizer Beth Emshoff of the OSU Extension Service. “No matter where we live – in an urban, suburban or rural environment – all Oregonians share common needs and aspirations for a sustainable future. Yet myths and local perspectives can keep us from acknowledging and understanding the interdependence all of the regions.” Registration cost is $75 per person. Sign up and read the full schedule here. The presentations will become the basis of a book to be published by OSU Press. (Photo of the Ashland Farmers Market courtesy of Lynn Ketchum.)
