Do you have leftover pesticides or pesticide containers that you need to get rid of? There will be an anonymous pesticide disposal event from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Saturday, March 12 in Clackamas, Ore. It is for growers in Clackamas County and northern Marion County. People can turn in “old pesticides like DDT, chlordane, aldrin, chlorpyrifos (Dursban), azinphos-methyl (Guthion) or leftover current use pesticides,” according to organizers. The sponsors include Clackamas River Water Providers, Oregon DEQ, Clackamas River Basin Council, Clackamas Soil and Water Conservation District, Oregon Dept. of Agriculture, and OSU Extension Service. Registration is required for chemical disposal (so the organizers know what’s coming in), but not needed for container disposal. Containers should be triple-rinsed. Details and registration info are here (PDF).
