Doug Danielsen has been hired as a Northern Midwest territory sales representative for J. Frank Schmidt & Son Co., according to a release from the wholesale grower. Ian McLaren is retiring on June 30 after 44 years of service.
Danielsen has a bachelor of science degree in Environmental Horticulture from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and nearly 20 years of experience in inventory, sales, plant procurement and distribution, strategic planning and personnel management for the nursery industry. He previously worked for Bachman’s Inc. of Minneapolis, Minnesota and established Midwest Nursery Supply LLC in January 2021. He will serve customers in Albert, Iowa, Manitoba, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Saskatchewan, South Dakota, and Wyoming.
Since May 17, McLaren has been transitioning customers over to Danielsen, who will provide the same level of knowledge, wisdom, and kindness about J. Frank Schmidt products.
“Ian has been an integral part of our company’s growth and has truly enjoyed developing relationships and serving customers.” Rich Bailey, Sales manager, said. “We’ve been very happy with his hard work over the years and appreciate his working closely with Doug through his retirement date and on an advisory basis after that time. “
