David Snodgrass receives PLANET’s Lifetime Leadership Award

By Curt Kipp — Posted April 19, 2013

Dave Snodgrass

David Snodgrass, the owner of Dennis’ 7 Dees Landscaping & Garden Centers, has received a Lifetime Leadership Award from PLANET, the national trade association representing more than 100,000 landscape industry professionals. The award is presented annually to an association member “who has demonstrated leadership, service, and commitment to both PLANET and the green industry,” a PLANET press release stated. “It honors individuals who have improved the green industry and inspired others throughout their careers with their pioneering spirit and demonstrated inventiveness.”

Snodgrass owns Dennis’ 7 Dees along with two of his brothers, Drew and Dean. Their father, Robert, founded the nursery in 1956. The company was profiled in Digger magazine in the Febraury 2013 issue. In addition to its landscaping business, the Portland, Ore.-based comapny has three retail locations in Portland and one in Seaside, Ore. David is a former president of both the Oregon Landscape Contractors Association and PLANET. He also served on PLANET’s Board of Directors, chaired PLANET’s Safety Committee for a number of years, and is a PLANET Trailblazer which allows him the opportunity to mentor younger people who are entering the industry.

During his 36 years leading the family business, Snodgrass with his brothers Drew and Dean, and their team of dedicated employees have grown Dennis’ 7 Dees Landscaping and Garden Centers from a small company into a $25 million dollar powerhouse that has won many safety and top landscape design awards over the years. The company has also done many community service projects, including projects for PLANET Day of Service.

“Dave has shown great commitment to the industry and is always willing to give his time and share his knowledge to help improve the industry,” said Sabeena Hickman, CAE, CMP, CEO of PLANET. For more information about the PLANET awards program, visit www.landcarenetwork.org/awards/index.
