Fall Creek Farm & Nursery, Inc. welcomes new board member

By Bill Goloski — Posted April 2, 2020

Blueberry plant breeder and grower Fall Creek Farm & Nursery Inc. (Lowell, Oregon) has added Kevin Murphy to its board of directors, the company announced.

Murphy became the company’s fifth board member outside of the founding Brazelton family. The company said it wants to incorporate diverse business perspectives as it explores growth opportunities and strategies.

Murphy is an experienced leader in the produce sector, and his knowledge of supply chain, process improvement, marketing and management is internationally recognized. Most recently, he was a chief executive officer of Driscoll’s for 13 years, but he also worked with Capurro Farms, Fresh Express Farms and TransFRESH Corporation.

“During my time at Driscoll’s, I worked closely with Fall Creek and always admired the company and enjoyed working with the family,” Murphy said. “Fall Creek has a strong position in a growing industry, and I look forward to working with them to evaluate their strategic options and continue their impressive trajectory of growth and success.”

A strong voice in agriculture, Murphy spoke at the National Immigration Forum, and has testified in the U.S. Congress regarding the industry’s labor and immigration issues. He was awarded the title of Central Coast Business Leader of the Year by California State University-Monterey Bay in 2019.

Murphy currently serves in an advisory capacity for several other boards, including Singapore-based sovereign wealth fund Temasek; infrastructure and construction contractor Graniterock; the Business School at California State University, Monterey Bay; and New Zealand-based kiwi fruit marketing company Zespri.
