HORTICULTURE MANAGER

Working in close partnership with the Curator of Horticulture, this position leads the horticulture team in implementing the Garden’s horticultural vision while ensuring the Garden is maintained to the highest standards of horticultural excellence, cultural authenticity, safety, and visitor experience.

INVENTORY CONTROL SPECIALIST

JOB SUMMARY: Maintain the integrity of the company’s inventory which involves tracking and managing stock levels, conducting regular audits, resolving discrepancies and coordinating with purchasing, finance and sales departments to ensure plants are available when needed. Use inventory management software to monitor plant movements, generate reports, and assist with forecasting future inventory needs. Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills are essential along with attention to detail and familiarity with supply chain procedures. This role contributes directly to operational efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction by ensuring smooth inventory flow and accurate record-keeping. Reports to Inventory Control Manager.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Perform routine physical cycle counts and audits.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Update inventory databases and software.
  • Identify damaged, dead or obsolete plant material.
  • Grade plant material for sales.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special skills/training:

  • Proficiency with common data entry software such as Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and inventory management systems (SAP, Oracle, Sage 100, Plant-X, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail to identify inconsistencies or duplicates and correct errors during entry.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple data sets, spreadsheets or entry queues.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.).
  • Familiarity with plant material (trees, shrubs, perennials, etc.).
  • The ability to work well under pressure and be flexible in varying situations.
  • The ability to perform basic math functions such as add, subtract, multiply and divide and data analysis abilities.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish.

Experience/education:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in inventory control.

Physical requirements:

  • Frequent standing, sitting, walking and bending.
  • Extensive use of computers, telephones, and other office equipment.
  • Continuous talking and listening.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Working conditions: Mix of indoor and outdoor work environment.

TREE & SHRUB DEPARTMENT LEAD

Dennis’ 7 Dees seeks a Tree & Shrub Department Lead to provide expert horticultural advice, maintain product quality, design merchandise displays, and support purchasing decisions.

Responsibilities: Deliver expert customer service; plan merchandise layouts; train staff on product/care standards; manage inventory accuracy and special orders; support purchasing with sales/inventory insights; work indoors/outdoors in all weather.

Qualifications: 2+ years garden center/retail experience required (apps without this won’t be considered); 1+ year sales experience; 1+ year cashier experience; POS/inventory systems familiarity; describe horticulture knowledge in resume/cover letter. Must lift 50 lbs, push/pull 200 lbs with casters, and perform continuous walking, stooping, reaching, and kneeling.

Schedule: Full-time, year-round, 20-40 hrs/week (seasonal). Store hours 9am-6pm, 7 days/week; open availability strongly preferred.

Pay & Benefits: $18-$22/hr DOE. Weekly pay, health insurance, PTO, 401K with match, 40% employee discount, tuition reimbursement. Family-owned Portland-area garden center and landscaping company.
