Up on the Olympic Peninsula, in the state of Washington, farmers are having trouble finding labor, according to an article in the Peninsula Daily News (Port Angeles, Wash.). The area is home to a strong farming sector due to a sunny climate and fertile soil. But Border Patrol enforcement has increased, including the unusual step of setting up roadblocks. As a result, farmers can’t find the willing hands to grow labor-intensive crops.
