The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) has reimagined its Philadelphia Flower Show as an outdoor event, according to a release from the company. The show will take place outside June 5–13, 2021 at the historic Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park (FDR Park) in South Philadelphia, adjacent to South Philadelphia’s Sports Complex area.
The show previously took place indoors in the late winter, but the plans have changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the event will be spread across 15 acres in summer to allow for social distancing and other safety precautions. There will be new features as well as the traditional exhibits of the annual PHS. Tickets will be timed and dated to limit attendance to meet the recommendations of health experts.
“We are thrilled to be able to celebrate the outdoors and offer joy and beauty after a year that has been marked by so many challenges. This experience is a wonderful example of the enduring and combined power of green space, plants, and gardeners to create impact and inspiration,” said Sam Lemheney, PHS Chief of Shows & Events. Tickets go on sale in January. For more details, visit phsonline.org.
