Oregon’s Pesticide Use Reporting System apparently is going away after this year. It was not included in Gov. Ted Kulongoski’s proposed state budget for the 2009-11 biennium. According to the Capital Press (Salem, Ore.):
PURS, meanwhile, is one of several programs facing cuts in the state Department of Agriculture budget losing more than 20 percent of its general funds in the 2009-11 biennium. Overall, the department is in line for a slight boost in its budget – from $81.1 million in 2007-09 to $82.4 million for 2009-11 – but that represents a 3.2 percent drop from current service levels after inflation is factored in. And the $82.4 million includes significant increases in federal funds and “other funds,” which are funds generated from fees for services.
