President-elect Barack Obama will nominate former Iowa governor Tom Vilsack as his Secretary of Agriculture today, according to several news reports:
Vilsack is generally regarded as a political centrist. He briefly ran for the 2008 Democratic nomination for president, dropping out not long after Obama entered the race. He endorsed Hillary Clinton in the primary but campaigned for Obama in the general election. As far as what his appointment means for nurseries, it’s not immediately clear, but when we know something, you will too.
