Why should people go to Powell’s when they can hang out at your nursery? Retail nurseries are becoming a place to hang out, relax and sip a latte, according to Sunset magazine. The venerable lifestyle title recently published an article on hot West Coast trends. “In the past, (nurseries) were utilitarian outposts where you’d get your plants and go,” the magazine stated. “Now, nurseries nudge you to take your coat off and stay awhile, with coffee bars, shelves of books to browse, and cafe tables amid the greenery.” The trends piece has since been republished in the San Francisco Chronicle and the online-only Seattle Post-Intelligencer, giving it good exposure across multiple media outlets.
