SPROut presents phytotechnology conference March 30-April 1

By Curt Kipp — Posted February 18, 2009

The Sustainable Plant Research and Outreach Center (SPROut) will present “Soak It Up: Phytotechnology Solutions for Water Challenges,” a three-day conference, from March 30-April 1 at the Oregon Garden Resort in Silverton, Ore. This year’s conference will focus on plant-based solutions for stormwater and wastewater challenges. Keynote speakers will include Gerould Wilhelm of Conservation Design Forum Inc., Dave Maciorek of Living Machines / Worrell Water Technologies, Eli Cohen of Ayala Water and Ecology, and Paul Stamets of Fungi Perfecti LLC. Additional presentations on April 1 will include “Urban Applications for Ecological Horticulture: Rain Gardens 101,” Green Roof Design 101: An Introductory Course by Green Roofs for Healthy Cities,” and a tour of local constructed water treatment wetlands.
Registration cost is $290 for the full conference if registered by March 9 and $350 if registered later. There are also options to register only for certain days, or only for the rain garden or green roof presentations, at lower cost. For information and to download the registration form, browse www.sproutoregon.org/events.
