Variegated Frydek Elephant Ear wins Farwest New Varieties Showcase Judges’ Choice award for 2023

Variegated Frydek Elephant Ear (Alocasia micholitziana ‘Frydek Variegata’) was chosen by professional judges as the Best in Show winner in the 2023 Farwest Show’s New Varieties Showcase. Farwest Show to celebrate 50th anniversary in 2023

The biggest nursery industry trade show in the West, the Farwest Show, will celebrate its 50th anniversary this coming August, producers the Oregon Association of Nurseries (OAN) have announced.

The trade show and conference will take place August 23–25, 2023 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Oregon. It will include special festivities celebrating five decades of making nursery industry connections. Booths are available now, registration will open April 10, and organizers have planned a full slate of seminars and social events. Highlights of the 50th anniversary celebration will include a band, food carts, expanded educational opportunities, and creative ways of recognizing the history of the show and the industry it represents.

Space limited for boxwood blight workshop on October 20

Five organizations are collaborating on a boxwood health workshop for growers set for 8:30 a.m.–noon Thursday, October 20 at the North Willamette Research and Extension Center, 15210 N.E. Miley Road, Aurora, Oregon. Registration is now open and is limited to 40 people; those interested can sign up online. There is a $15 cost.
